The General States of Migrations, organized locally by SOMICO 06 (Solidaritรฉ Migrant.es Collectif 06), brought together about thirty associative, union, and political organizations, citizens, and more than sixty participants who collectively debated proposals.

These debates, organized from February to April throughout France on the initiative of over 500 associations, aim to formulate legislative proposals as alternatives to the government’s “asylum-immigration law” project.

For the associations, it is a matter of: ending the humanitarian tragedy, obliging the State to respect the law and international treaties, ending this reception crisis, and taking concrete action on levers that promote peace and cooperation in the world.

In Nice, proposals were made around the following themes: developing cooperation and partnership with all countries to combat exile; modifying economic relations and canceling predatory international treaties; organizing migration requests and developing forms of reception from third countries; developing training and access to employment for asylum seekers; establishing immediate management of housing and health; enhancing cooperation and coordination between organizations in our department; proposing new laws and regulations that favor reception and put an end to humanitarian tragedies and human trafficking; developing a diplomacy of peace and ending arms sales.
