This train line project was made public this Monday by the Regulatory Authority for Railway and Road Activities (Arafer) as part of the opening to competition of major commercial passenger transport lines, scheduled for the end of 2020.
According to European regulations that define the conditions for private operators’ access to the railway network, the transport organizing authorities – primarily the regions – now have a one-month period to request an “economic equilibrium test” from Arafer if they believe that these new services undermine the viability of an existing public service, notably regional trains (TER).
