At a time when the Government is making professional equality between women and men a national priority, Alter Egaux is launching the Girls’Day-Boys’Day for the first time in the Alpes-Maritimes department, this Thursday, May 2nd. A day dedicated to discovering atypical professions for middle school students during their educational orientation period. An opportunity to broaden the scope of possibilities and take concrete action for professional equality.
What are the objectives?
Simultaneous and cross-cutting evolution of representations related to professions (youth, parents, teaching and educational teams, HR managers, professionals in position, etc.)
Expansion of personal and professional projections.
Diversity of profiles for companies.
Through which actions?
Discovery of traditionally gendered professions.
Cross actions girls/boys based on the principle of dual diversity.
Girls will discover “typically feminine” professions and boys, “typically masculine” professions in a professional context.
The professionals presenting their jobs themselves practice atypical professions.
Who are the participants?
From the National Education side:
5 middle schools with an average of two classes represented, reaching about 300 students and as many families in the department.
30 ambassadors sent to discover atypical professions then tasked with presenting the discovered professions to their classmates.
On the side of atypical professions:
6 professionals engaging in atypical professions will present their activities and work environment.
3 women will share their experiences in “typically masculine” environments.
3 men will share their experiences in “typically feminine” environments.
