Get used to seeing these strange street cleaning devices on the streets of Nice. The Gluttons, brand new ecological vacuum cleaners, are making their appearance in the Nice Cรดte dโAzur landscape. Descriptions.
The Gluttons aim to revolutionize the cleanliness of our cities while aligning with Nice Cรดte dโAzur’s sustainable development initiative. Over four years, five devices will be acquired by the community: three in Nice, one in Levens, and one in St-Laurent-du-Var. And this comes at a relatively low cost of โฌ55,762.50.
The Gluttons live up to their name as they swallow small waste items (like cigarette butts and paper) up to 2-liter bottles and glass debris. Also effective against canine waste, they are equipped with a 240L container and can hold up to 18 kg of dust. Moreover, they are environmentally friendly, with a minimal carbon footprint since they operate on electric energy. Silent, they have a battery life of 8 to 18 hours and can be recharged using a simple electrical outlet.
The Gluttons are intended to replace street sweepers, making it easier to vacuum around benches, trees, and deep inside trash bins. Self-propelled, they go up and down curbs and pivot on their axis. They also represent a significant productivity gain, as they cover twice the cleaning area of a street cleaner currently does.
If the outcome is positive, 15 new vacuum cleaners will be purchased over the next three years.
