Created in 1974, the Dean Jean Lépine Committee brings together, once a year, notable figures from the world of knowledge who review files presented by the research laboratories of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis following a call for projects. Financial assistance is awarded to the winners.

This Monday, Véronique Paquis, Deputy Mayor of Nice, presented the award to two recipients for their entire careers.

Jacques Blum was born in Strasbourg on December 27, 1950. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure (class of 1970), he obtained his teaching certification in mathematics in 1973, and then his doctorate in 1985 at the University of Paris VI. He has been a professor of mathematics at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, within the Jean-Alexandre Dieudonné laboratory, since December 1, 2000, and has been leading the CASTOR team: Control, Analysis and Simulations for Tokamak Research (INRIA Sophia-Antipolis- LJAD UNS-CNRS) since 2012.

Alain Brillet is a gold medalist of the prestigious CNRS prize. This award honors his contribution to the vitality and influence of research in France, crowning the entire body of work and career of this eminent scientist. As a member of the Artemis laboratory at the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, he was able to convince scientists and funding organizations to engage in the creation of the Franco-Italian program which started under the name Virgo.
