The Great Return of Ursea

Latest News

OGC Nice officially announced this Wednesday the return of its former assistant coach Adrian Ursea (52 years old). He leaves his position as coach of the under-21 team at the Swiss club Servette and returns to settle on the Côte d’Azur, where he experienced two wonderful years.

The Lucien Favre Era

As assistant coach between 2016 and 2018 alongside Lucien Favre, he participated in the remarkable 2016-2017 season during which OGC Nice finished 3rd in Ligue 1, 9 points behind Paris in 2nd place and 11 points ahead of Lyon in 4th place. His time at the club was notably marked by his guidance of young players with high potential.

Thus, following the return of Manuel Pirès to the training center and Serge Recordier to the recruitment department, OGC Nice recalls one of its most experienced assistants who contributed to its success.

Ursea’s Contribution

His experience as a player and his professionalism will be of great help to Patrick Vieira and his men who are experiencing quite a complicated period given the rather insufficient results.

Julien Fournier, director of football at OGC Nice, clarified that Ursea would be responsible for video analysis of opposing teams: “One of the departments we are currently strengthening is the video analysis of opposing teams, and to develop it, we thought of Adrian, who is a great professional and knows the club well.”
Following his grand return, Adrian stated: “I was convinced that we would meet again, and now it’s done. I am very happy and very proud.”
