The four major challenges of the globalized capitalist system are: climate change; the visible consequences of biogenetic research; the lack of self-regulation in financial markets and the growing number of those left behind.
Only a renewed left can save the core values of liberal democracy. If the left misses the opportunity, the danger of a new fascism or a new authoritarianism is increasing.

In the middle, there is Putin’s Russia seeking to build an empire.
Without Europe, we would lose the most precious part of our heritage, in which democracy compromises the freedom of collective action, without which equality and justice would not be ensured.
