The transformation of the city towards “green & blue”, meaning “ecological and sustainable” following the concept and program launched by the Melinda & Bill Gates Foundation to which the Mayor of Nice indirectly and possibly unconsciously refers, will only take place in the west.
In short, there will not be the OIN of the Eco-Valley that will transform Nice into a 21st-century city. The eastern neighborhoods will also have their share of renovation, especially since the extension of tram line 1 towards the Paillon Valley will be a lever for revitalizing this popular area.
Yesterday, urban redevelopment projects for three blocks in the eastern neighborhoods of Nice: “Comptoir Métallurgique du Littoral” and Nettoiement/Pont Michel and the public spaces of these sites were presented.
These projects, located in highly visible areas along the Paillon, on the road to Turin up to the terminus of tram line 1 at Pont Michel, and near the neighborhoods of Saint-Roch, Saint-Charles, and Bon Voyage, will permanently transform the appearance of the eastern neighborhoods.
These programs will include a mix of housing, storefronts, public facilities (including a school group with 8 classes on the CML site, relocation of collection and sanitation services to the Pont Michel site…), co-living/shared spaces, cultural spaces, parking lots…
These major developments will be an opportunity to redevelop public spaces and green this very urban area.
For Christian Estrosi: “With the three projects presented today, the momentum of urban redevelopment continues”.
