Prevention is better than cure… Starting July 21, the health pass (negative COVID test or vaccination certificate) will be in effect in “leisure and cultural venues” gathering more than 50 people, from the age of 12, as indicated by President Emmanuel Macron during his televised address last night.
The health pass will be extended “early August” to cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, as well as to airplanes, trains, long-distance buses, and medical facilities. This extension to other establishments in early August requires the passing of a law and its enactment, he specified.
“We will extend the health pass to the maximum limit to encourage as many of you as possible to get vaccinated,” he thus justified. According to the Ministry of Sports, gyms should also be affected by the health pass in early August. This pass is already in effect for venues accommodating more than 1,000 people, notably stadiums, and nightclubs hosting over 50 people.
In Nice, Mayor Christian Estrosi reacted to this announcement with determination: “We will continue the local vaccination efforts established since January for the most vulnerable at home but also for professionals in shops and businesses with mobile teams available by appointment. Local authorities must be supported by the State to implement them.”
