The Heatwave Plan is in place: protect, alert, coordinate, rescue, care, and support.

Latest News

Since the heatwave episode of 2003, the government has implemented a National Heatwave Plan, which is broken down into several increasing levels of severity, defining actions in the areas of prevention and crisis management, relying on the mobilization of everyone (State, local authorities, associations, health professionals, etc.).

There are four alert levels: monitoring, warning, alert, and maximum mobilization. Each corresponds to specific actions.

The Nice University Hospital (CHU de Nice) has a coordination unit that works in concert with the Red Cross.

For the Nice City Hall and the Metropolis, the Community Center for Social Action (CCAS) leads the heatwave plan aimed at anticipating and, if necessary, managing the phenomenon as best as possible, ensuring the prompt identification and intervention for people at risk.

People over 65 years old, pregnant women, and young children are considered vulnerable.

Fragile, isolated individuals residing in the Nice commune are invited to register (either by themselves, a legal representative, or a third party) on a registry. As of today, it includes 1816 people, 1446 of whom are over 80 years old.

They receive personalized telephone follow-up, alert messages, and recommendations. Registration allows CCAS agents to conduct home visits or visits to their place of living with the support of volunteers.

A Solidarity Initiative

The Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis, the city of Nice, and its CCAS will partner with the Red Cross initiative: “A Can Against Hunger”: Each employee of these entities can contribute 1 to 2 canned goods at their workplace, in a designated collection area where the Red Cross will handle the pickup.
