Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 2022 the Cinรฉmathรจque of Nice offers a “Carte Blanche” to high school cinema-loving ambassadors for a weekend!
The city of Nice places great importance on culture, utilizing its Cinรฉmathรจque to facilitate an education in images. As a true hub for enhancing cinema awareness and its history, the Cinรฉmathรจque of Nice plays an active role in access to film culture: approximately 15,000 students from the City of Nice visit the Cinรฉmathรจque each year.
Continuing these efforts, the City of Nice launched a call for applications at the start of the 2021/2022 academic year for high school students to become “High School Cinema-loving Ambassadors.” Fifteen young ambassadors were thus able to actively participate in the cultural establishment’s activities and discover its behind-the-scenes operations throughout the year. They also enjoyed free and unlimited access to screenings, masterclasses, and conferences. They had the opportunity to visit the legendary Victorine Studios.
The goal of these young ambassadors is to promote heritage cinema, particularly the programming of the Cinรฉmathรจque of Nice.
At the end of the school year, the students were allowed to select their favorite films, which will be screened at the Cinรฉmathรจque for a fee of โฌ2 for all students.
On this occasion, five major cinema classics will be screened:
– In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-wai
– The Wages of Fear by William Friedkin
– Blade Runner by Ridley Scott (offered in its Final Cut version)
– Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders, and Casino by Martin Scorsese.
Each film will be introduced by the ambassadors, and a large debate hosted by Dorothรฉe Marro, a journalist, director, and actress, will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 6 PM on the theme of โCinephilia in the Digital Age.โ Access to the debate is free and open.
