For the first time in three years, an A380 landed this Thursday on the runways of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. Following a break due to the health crisis and successive lockdowns, the iconic double-deck aircraft from the Emirates airline makes its grand return, thereby offering improved connectivity to over 140 destinations via Dubai.
In late 2023, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nice-Dubai route, and we couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate this event than with the return of the iconic A380.
Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur
Emirates, the only international airline serving the southern region with this double-deck aircraft, now offers its Nice-Dubai route daily. With the deployment of the A380, 31,000 passengers per month will be able to enjoy unparalleled comfort on their journey from Nice to Dubai.
The aircraft that landed this Thursday in Nice showcased the new visual identity of the airline and a livery in the colors of the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, for which Emirates is the global sponsor. It is the same A380 that recently transported the Webb Ellis trophy, to be awarded to the winning team in the upcoming autumn event, from South Africa, through Dubai, to Paris. Emirates passengers will also be able to watch all the World Cup matches live during their flight.
The A380, weighing between 510 and 575 tons, is particularly popular in the region and appreciated by customers for its unique on-board features and spacious cabins. Travelers can enjoy the award-winning Ice in-flight entertainment system, allowing them to follow major sporting events and the latest news through live and real-time broadcasting. More than 5,000 channels of movies, TV shows, music, and games will be available on demand.
In First Class, the A380 offers 14 private suites providing a fully personalized experience. Passengers can choose their dining and sleeping schedules, enjoy gourmet meals at any time, access a shower-spa, and take advantage of the nearby bar-lounge.
Emirates currently serves France with 35 weekly flights, including three daily A380 flights from Paris, one daily from Nice, and one daily from Lyon. By the end of the summer, Emirates’ iconic A380 will serve more than 50 destinations worldwide.
The additional capacity offered will provide customers with more travel opportunities this summer to Dubai and beyond, including to popular destinations in Asia, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, Africa, and Australasia.
