The 2014 Nice International Half Marathon celebrates its 23rd edition. It has grown and managed to endure to become the second largest running event on the French Riviera (editor’s note: just behind its big brother, the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes Marathon).
A race that varies the pleasures, offering an intra-city route with visits to the most beautiful tourist sites in the city of Nice: Jardins Albert 1er, Belle Époque hotels, its port, as well as a course along the sea allowing participants to admire the horizon and the deep blue on one of the most beautiful avenues in the world: the Promenade des Anglais! The route is fast and flat.
This year, the Nice International Half Marathon set a new record in the 21.1 km race by registering 4,000 entries.
The 10 km race will start simultaneously with the 21.1 km race
Pace setters: each time target has its own balloon color: Target 1h24’ (Pink); Target 1h30’ (Yellow); Target 1h37’ (Blue); Target 1h45’ (Green); Target 2h (Orange).
Start: 9:30 am on the Promenade des Anglais opposite the Théâtre de Verdure.
Finish: Quai des États-Unis (Promenade des Anglais).
As every year, the Nice International Half Marathon will host a high-quality field of athletes.
This year, two athletes have personal bests under the 1h00’ mark: Kenyans Gideon NGATUNY with a personal record of 59’50’’ and Kiprop LIMO with 59’56’’.
Notable among the women, the Kenyan Pauline NJERI, who finished second in the Nice International Half Marathon in 2012 and has a personal record of 67’55, will be participating.
The award ceremony for the event will take place immediately after the finish on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 11:30 am at the start/finish area on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
Each runner will receive a technical T-shirt as a gift when collecting their race bib and a dated medal after crossing the finish line.
The event is a qualifier for the next French Half Marathon Championships. Participants have a maximum time of 3 hours to complete the entire course up to the finish line.
