On July 23, 2017, after the symbolic year of “memory and tribute which will end on July 14” – as Christian Estrosi said – sports (and business) will resume their rights and the 13th edition of Ironman will take place as usual.
Naturally, enhanced security measures will be implemented, the first of which will be the new configuration of the Promenade des Anglais, secured by the installation of palm trees up to Lenval and road access protected by high resistance cables.
The Ironman of Nice is part of the five races qualifying for the final, organized in Hawaii, of the world championship of this XXL triathlon event: 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling, followed by a marathon.
A great satisfaction was expressed by the president of the organizing company, Yves Cordier, who had to negotiate this change of date with international bodies but announced a return to “normal” in 2018: the race will return to its traditional date, the last weekend of June.
Yves Cordier assured that the Iron Girl and Iron Kids competitions will also be maintained to the great delight of the thousands of participants who thoroughly enjoy them.
The hoteliers and restaurateurs of Nice are rubbing their hands: this competition attracts many competitors (2,800 plus their companions) who come 50% from other regions and abroad to participate. So many potential clients in a sluggish period.
