Jean-Christophe Victor: Holder of a doctorate in anthropology and trained at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (Inalco) in Mandarin, he joined the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1975 as a cultural attaché at the French Embassy in Afghanistan, in Kabul, and then joined the ministry’s Centre for Analysis and Forecasting in 1980.
Jean-Christophe Victor is the creator of the geopolitics magazine Le Dessous des Cartes, broadcast on ARTE since 1991.
In 1992, he founded the Laboratory of Political Studies and Cartographic Analysis (LEPAC), a company specializing in international relations analysis and consulting, which he still directs today. Focused on “country-risk” studies as well as on cross-cutting issues, the laboratory has developed a specialization in teaching geopolitics. For Jean-Christophe Victor: “Geopolitics is a useful tool for understanding and analyzing power relations from which significant stakes arise. This discipline also serves as an instrument for decision-making support.”
As a teacher and speaker, active in France and abroad, Jean-Christophe Victor is the author of several works on international relations.
He is the son of explorer Paul-Émile Victor, who delivered several lectures on his expeditions at the CUM.
