ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE GENERAL CONSULATE OF ITALY IN NICE
REFERENDUM JUNE 12-13, 2011 โ
The following abrogative referendums have been called, to be held on June 12-13:
a) Popular referendum no. 1: Methods of allocation and management of public services of economic significance โ Abrogation
b) Popular referendum no. 2: Determination of the tariff for the integrated water service based on an adequate return on invested capital. Partial abrogation of the norm;
c) Popular referendum no. 3: New power plants for nuclear energy production. Partial abrogation of the norms;
d) Popular referendum no. 4: Abrogation of the norms of Law No. 51 of April 7, 2010, regarding the legitimate impediment of the Prime Minister and Ministers to appear in a criminal hearing.
Italian citizens residing abroad and certain categories of compatriots temporarily abroad, as further specified, can vote in the abrogative referendums of June 12 and 13.
The vote of citizens residing in the consular district of Nice and registered with AIRE is exclusively expressed by mail.
Italian citizens temporarily abroad, such as military personnel or police forces on international missions, public administration employees for work reasons, or university professors and their cohabiting family members, can also vote by mail. The possibility of traveling to Italy to vote and receiving reimbursement does not apply to this type of voters.
Voters temporarily abroad belonging to the aforementioned categories and their cohabiting family members must have signed a declaration for electoral purposes by May 8, 2011, to be able to vote.
Residents and temporarily absentee voters will receive an electoral package at home from the relevant Consulate, containing the ballots and instructions on how to vote.
Those who do not receive the electoral package by May 29, 2011, can personally go to this General Consulate to verify their electoral status.
Those temporarily abroad and not belonging to the three aforementioned categories can vote in the referendums only by traveling to Italy and casting their vote at the sections established in their own Municipality.
Once the operations are concluded, the ballots voted by Italians residing abroad received by the Consulates by 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2011, will be sent to Italy, where the counting will take place under the care of the Central Office for the Foreign Constituency established at the Court of Appeal of Rome.

Italian citizens residing abroad and those temporarily staying abroad, as specified below, can vote for the abrogative referendums of June 12/13. For the referendums, the vote of Italian citizens registered in the registers of residents in the consular district of Nice will be done exclusively by mail. Italian citizens temporarily abroad, such as
military personnel or those belonging to police forces on international missions, public administration employees for work-related reasons, or university professors and their cohabiting families, can also vote by mail. The possibility of traveling to Italy to vote and benefiting from transportation reimbursement does not concern this category of voters.
Residents and those temporarily abroad will receive from this general consulate the electoral package at their home, containing the ballots and instructions on how to vote. Those who do not receive the electoral package by May 29, 2011, must personally go to this General Consulate to have their status
as a voter verified. Those temporarily abroad and not part of the three aforementioned categories can vote for the referendum only in Italy at the polling stations specifically set up in their municipalities. Once the voting operations are concluded, the ballots of Italians
residing abroad received by 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2011, will be sent to Italy, where the counting will take place under the oversight of the Central Office for the Foreign Constituency, established at the
Court of Appeal of Rome.
