In order to improve the welcome of the public with disabilities and ensure access to sports for everyone at the sports facilities in the city of Nice, the Jean-Bouin sports complex has acquired two sleds specially adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM) as well as two lifts.
The two PRM lifts are designed to facilitate access to the ice rink and the swimming pool. The two sleds are available for free use at the Jean-Bouin ice rink for users with disabilities.
These include a Mobiglisse, similar to a standard sled, which requires the user to transfer to the sled, and a Lugiglace, made up of two runners joined by a central base to which the user’s wheelchair can be directly attached without the need for a transfer.
These improvements are part of the ongoing work to develop parasports, less than three months before the Winter Paralympic Games held in Sochi, Russia, from March 7 to 16, 2014.
