After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the 11th edition of this wonderful tournament of heart and friendship returns.
Eleven years ago, Nice basketball experienced a horrific tragedy following a road accident on the return from a trip by the Nice Cavigal Olympic cadet France team. The young Laure Ecard, a player from NCO, lost her life on the side of a highway along with a motorist who was providing aid. Other players were seriously injured.
The Nice basketball community and the youth of Nice were profoundly affected by this human tragedy. In memory of Laure, the city of Nice, through its Mayor, Christian Estrosi, asked the leaders of the Union of Nice Basketball Societies to organize a tournament in the name of the young girl from Nice.
Laure’s parents, Sylvie and Jean François Ecard, and her little sister Johanna, a promising basketball player like Laure was, will be present as always.
From this Friday, July 22 to Sunday, July 24, several international under-18 women’s teams will compete at the Leyrit Hall.
