The League Against Cancer funds researchers.

Latest News

Eight to nine thousand new cancer cases are recorded each year in the department. Between 2003 and 2007, under the presidency of Professor Maurice Schneider, the Committee of the League Against Cancer allocated the sum of 1,352,360 for research aid. The committee actively participates in the fight against the disease by redistributing funds that come 90% from individual donations.

Cancer research requires significant funding, and Maurice Schneider established a labeling policy based on selecting the best research teams for the disease. “It is a true partnership that is established between the labeled teams and the League,” he proudly declares.

An Indispensable Participation

Donations made to the Alpes-Maritimes committee are intended for the purchase of cutting-edge equipment that will improve the quality of care. An essential investment for the development of an innovative health system that meets changing medical needs.

The league addresses the needs of hospitals and funds equipment intended for patients. Since 2003, numerous establishments have benefited from these donations.
Among them, 4,720 euros were allocated to the Nice Antoine Lacassagne cancer treatment center. This amount will contribute to the purchase of a therapeutic laser. An additional 50,791 euros were allocated to the establishment for obtaining mammography equipment.

8,073 euros were granted to the Tzanck Clinic in Mougins for the purchase of morphine pumps. The L’Archet Hospital, on the other hand, received 212,000 euros for the financing needs of palliative care and the purchase of a positioning camera.

Professors Jean-Pierre Gerard, Pierre-Yves Marcy, Jean-Marie Salvadori, and Charles-Hugo Marquette were delighted to receive these funds to continue their research, funds without which “nothing would be possible.”
