The Left Front in Nice intends to be in opposition to the UMP and the … PS!!!

The Communist Party and the Left Front suffered significant setbacks in the municipal elections. More specifically, they will be absent from the Nice city council.

injey-11.jpg Their reaction to the results is thus aggressive but, in terms of intellectual honesty, severely lacks self-criticism.

Unless it’s not the voters’ fault for failing to appreciate their proposals!

For Cรฉcile Dumas, departmental secretary of the PC: โ€œThe immediate takeaway from these municipal elections is indeed the absolute urgency to change policy and work towards a real alternative that revitalizes left-wing values both locally and nationally.โ€

Robert Injey, head of the list in Nice, analyzes the local situation as follows: โ€œThe result of the second round in Nice is far from being a blank check for Christian Estrosi. With 48.62%, the outgoing mayor does not obtain the absolute majority he dreamed of to pursue his policy undisturbed.

Despite six months of continuous inaugurations and a rise of the UMP nationally, he only progresses by 2,781 votes over his 2008 score and ultimately obtains the support of 24.97% of registered voters (24.15% in 2008). As in 2008, he has the effective support of less than one in four registered voters!

This result reflects distrust towards Estrosi’s management (the debt, the choice of certain infrastructures like the tramway tunnel…)โ€

Naturally, the criticism towards Patrick Allemand is โ€œcruelโ€ even though arguments are plentiful:

โ€œWith 17.85%, he achieves the worst score for a left-wing candidate since the start of the 20th century. Despite mobilizing new voters, shifting votes from other candidates, he only increases by 2,519 votes between the two rounds. The sanction against the government’s policy was compounded by the sanction of Patrick Allemand’s behavior between the two rounds. He is disqualified to claim to embody the unity of the left in Nice.

A few months before the Regional elections, Socialist Party members will have to seriously question the reasons for the failure and the validity of the political choices made locally and nationally.โ€

To conclude with a look toward the future: โ€œWith the partners of the Left Front and the running mates of ‘Nice, Humanity First’, we will focus on innovating to pursue and amplify what we have started to do. With the ambition to create a real left-wing opposition to Christian Estrosi’s management outside of the city council sessions.โ€

After the โ€œ10 inaugurations of the electoral campaign,โ€ what should we expect from Robert Injey’s imagination? Sometimes, it might be outside the city council sessions where the action takes place… Always pleasant, no doubt about it!
