Although it didn’t make a significant splash in the media, this virtual survey on voting indications in the event of left-wing primaries in Nice led to many emails and phone calls, as well as numerous comments. The voting ended this weekend, and we are presenting the results today after verifying their validity following attempts of multiple voting.
In total, 1,223 responses were validated out of 1,857 received. Invalid responses were those coming from the same IP address in a very short period or from the same email. The final result places the Nice Radical Left Party candidate, and former PS candidate for Mayor of Nice, Patrick Mottard in the lead with 422 votes for 34%, while in second place, with 29% of the electronic votes, is General Councilor Marc Concas with 364 votes, closely followed by Patrick Allemand with 359 votes. Robert Injey from the Azur Front de Gauche trails with 88 voters.
We would like to remind that these voting intentions are purely indicative and that the polling techniques used by Nice Premium show a certain reliability, but everyone knows that reliability on the internet is quite relative, as evidenced by some votes from identical IP addresses or emails that favored certain candidates and were naturally removed. Conversely, those same IP addresses or email addresses will be carefully retained.
But, despite the criticisms and sneers, it is undeniable that the organization of left-wing primaries is a central topic in Nice’s current affairs, and the 1,223 voters in less than a week certainly won’t say otherwise. Surely, each candidate used their resources and networks (social or otherwise) to encourage their friends and associates to vote for them, but frankly, this is not much different from an ordinary campaign. One thing is certain, the top three candidates in this consultation, in addition to their shared or differing views on organizing this election, have followers completely dedicated to their position. Patrick Mottard and Marc Concas for a primary, Patrick Allemand for a single candidacy.
As a result of these results, Nice Premium will send each candidate a questionnaire on their position regarding the organization of this election. The responses will be published as we receive them.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this consultation, as well as the grumblers and other curmudgeons who, we have no doubt, certainly voted before criticizing the initiative!
