Every summer, the town of Tourrette-Levens hosts a summer art event, bringing together the general public around numerous themes related to the Circus, such as clowns, puppets, Harlequin, and more.
This year, the Cultural Space will open its doors every day to showcase its grand summer exhibition dedicated to “The Legend of Buffalo Bill,” until September 18, 2016.
Far West, cowboys, Indians โ these are terms that have made generations of children dream, fascinated by this epic of contemporary history. Did you know that the dream became a reality in 1906 when the legendary Buffalo Bill Wild West Show settled in Nice at the current location of the Jean Bouin complex? This extraordinary show was one of the most impressive of its time and a pioneer in terms of communication.
The exhibition will thus retrace the history of this Far West legend, but also that of the Bouglione family, who took over the show in 1927 and also achieved immense success.
The numerous documents and objects that compose it all come from the private collection of Doctor Alain FRERE, mayor of Tourrette-Levens, artistic advisor of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, and above all, a great circus enthusiast, who with passion, relevance, and patience has managed to gather thousands of documents and objects from around the world.
The exhibition will be open every day at the cultural space from 2 PM to 7 PM.
