The Lenval Foundation acquires a more advanced MRI.

In front of the Baie des Anges, the new MRI machine has been installed in a room on the second floor of Lenval Hospital. The radiology, CT scanner, and MRI units are now consolidated into a new imaging center. “The patient can undergo a scan immediately, which allows for direct results,” explained Pierre Costa, president of the Lenval Foundation.

Valued at 800,000 euros, the new MRI is part of the fourth generation of machines. “Each time, we try to upgrade, this is the fourth one the hospital has owned since 1990,” indicated Pierre Costa.

“The availability of MRI equipment in France remains limited.”

“Patients have better comfort and more privacy. The examination is also shorter and less noisy,” affirmed the president of the Foundation, proud of his new machine. Patients, adults or children, can even bring a CD of their favorite music, “which helps reduce their stress.” The opening of the Imaging Center, and particularly the MRI, will reduce waiting times from one month to less than fifteen days.

“France remains one of the countries with the least MRI equipment. Authorizations are granted gradually,” assured Pierre Costa. Today, Nice is equipped with only 5 or 6 MRI machines. Yet, approximately 10,000 patients come to undergo an MRI each year at the Lenval Foundation. A figure that is not expected to increase.

The new Imaging Center is open from Monday to Saturday, from 8 am to 8 pm.
