The health restriction measures applied in 19 departments are extended to all of France. In schools, remote learning is implemented. This will be followed by two weeks of vacation in all areas at the same time. For the Alpes-Maritimes, which were already among the departments under surveillance, there will be no major changes.
These new measures were outlined by the President of the Republic during a televised address last night.
So, there will be no โstrictโ lockdown, but a โpincerโ strategy: the extension of โreinforcedโ measures, public controls to limit gatherings and prevent alcohol consumption on one side, and accelerated vaccination for other age groups on the other.
โBy the end of summer, all French people over 18 who wish to be vaccinated will be able to do so,โ confirmed Emmanuel Macron.
The first objective is to gradually reopen the country starting from mid-May. Then, from mid-June, with the European vaccination โpassportโ in place, travel should begin. Regarding schools: remote learning will be implemented from Tuesday, April 6 to April 9, except for children of healthcare workers and children with disabilities, who can continue to attend school.
This will be followed by two weeks of school holidays from April 10 to April 25, at the same time for all areas. The return to school will take place for everyone on April 26. In-person classes will resume from April 26 for kindergarten and primary school students and remotely for middle and high school students. All children will be able to return to school on May 3.
No changes in higher education. Students will continue to be able to attend university for one day of classes per week.
