The old Carras port, now engulfed in the urban fabric of Nice, still maintains the tradition of celebrating Saint John’s Day, which will take place this Tuesday, June 25.
This celebration, symbol of the summer solstice, was once organized around a fire to encourage matchmaking.
Legend has it that young girls would rush to the fires of Saint John because, according to hearsay, if they danced around nine bonfires, their weddings would be celebrated within the year.
