The starting line for the municipal election in Nice is taking shape: Marc Concas, the general councilor who, along with his wife Frédérique Grégoire-Concas (municipal and metropolitan councilor), had announced his resignation from the Socialist Party, joins Olivier Bettati in his Republican Union list, which will be called “My Party is Nice”.
The “dissidents”, as they are referred to in the local political microcosm both right and left, are starting to strengthen their team, which, let us not forget, also includes Benoît Kandel, former first deputy of Christian Estrosi, and Jean-Christophe Picard, president of PRG06.
Undoubtedly, they will want to be proud rivals of the outgoing mayor, each having a more or less personal reason to oppose his re-election.
An alliance of political personalities from various backgrounds, to which Brigitte Tanauji-Dahan, Andrée Alziari-Négre, Joëlle Péglion, and Jean-François Fouqué should be added, is both surprising and logical: The crisis of credibility of traditional parties opens the door to a political offering that transcends ideological divides, particularly at the local level, and aims at proximity and concrete solutions to citizens’ problems.
This list aims to attract the sympathy and votes of many dissatisfied with Christian Estrosi’s policies and the municipal majority, as well as with Patrick Allemand’s socialist opposition. Of course, like the other candidates, it has another priority target with what is often the leading party of the first round, the abstentionists.
The transparency of actions and morally exemplary behavior by the elected officials (which sounds like implicit criticism of the actions of the outgoing majority) were also mentioned, and a solemn commitment was made: An ethical charter for a new politics in Nice with “draconian” contents was signed at the end of the conference.
