The head of the UMP group list, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, municipal councilor of Nice, and general councilor of Alpes-Maritimes, seems assured of being elected senator. She hopes to present 5 UMP elected officials out of the 5 seats to be renewed and to participate in shifting the assembly to the right.
The socialist senator Marc Daunis, also supported by the MRC and the PRG, hopes to retain his seat, which is currently the only one held by the left in the department. However, the task proves to be complicated.
As a reminder, in addition to the current 5 senators, the 9 elected deputies are also from the right.
Estimates give 3 senators to the UMP list, while the other two will be chosen among Jean-Pierre Leleux, Olivier Bettati, and Marc Daunis.
In Alpes-Maritimes, the currently elected senators from the last 2008 elections are: Marc Daunis – Socialist group and related members, Colette Giudicelli – UMP group, Jean-Pierre Leleux – UMP group, Hรฉlรจne Masson-Maret – UMP group, and Louis Nรจgre – UMP group.
