Latest News

The literary meeting at the Raoul Mille Library, Nice et Vous, was back on this Tuesday, December 13. As usual, we discovered Niรงois authors and their superb works.

Meeting in Nice by Gilbert Autheman: Baie des Anges Editions

Gilbert Autheman takes us through the lockdown of 2020 from the perspective of a young Niรงois student. Through his subtle and poetic writing, the author lets us feel the full solitude of his character, as well as his need for love. Taking the form of a diary, the text is easy to read, not without a certain pleasure, as it makes us follow the existential wanderings of this endearing protagonist.

The Hourglass of the Riviera by Denis Chollet and Robert Matthey: Ovadia Editions

This book is the result of a collaboration between two talented artists. On one side, we have Robert Matthey, a photographer who provided the images for the book and was present that evening. Then, we have Denis Chollet, who put words to these images to offer an immersive narrative. This book takes us on a journey through the Riviera into a forgotten past of the city we know. With many neighborhoods represented, these two artists offer a real sensory experience, and through their collaboration, deliver a work of great value for all nostalgic readers.

Pomponnette โ€“ The Secret by Paul Lรฉgier: Editions au Pays Rรชvรฉ

Paul Lรฉgier is a carpenter by training, but he discovered a passion for writing about his city, always having been nurtured by literature. The author takes us on a nostalgic journey in his Pomponnette trilogy. The third installment should arrive soon, but we can already delve into the first two adventures. Adventures indeed, as it also involves a mystery relating to a secret of France’s history, buried for centuries. A series of novels for lovers of Nice and enthusiasts of captivating intrigue.

The Districts of Nice. From 1855 to the present day by Jean-Paul Potron: Gilletta Editions

Jean-Paul Potron offers us an absolutely fantastic photo album of the city of Nice. With more than 500 photographs of the many neighborhoods, buildings, and infrastructures that make up Nice, it is a pilgrimage through the ages that have transformed the city. By strolling through the iconic old town, passing between the sumptuous villas of Cimiez, or climbing to the heights of the hills, Nice will hold no more secrets for you thanks to this magnificent work.

And that concludes Nice et Vous for this year 2022. These literary gatherings have taken us on a journey of discovery through many talented Niรงois authors. However, the Nice et Vous meeting returns in 2023, starting on January 10 at the Raoul Mille Library, for even more discoveries of Niรงois literature.
