The end-of-year holidays are often synonymous with warmth, moments of conviviality, and shared happiness. But when one suffers from loneliness or is in a precarious situation, the reality can be harder to cope with.
To be able to offer everyone moments of joy and conviviality at Christmas, the Petits Frères des Pauvres of the Alpes Maritimes are actively seeking 50 volunteers to:
Help with the preparation and participate in Christmas Eve or Christmas meals on December 23rd and 25th; as well as on December 31st and January 1st;
Drive the guests to these collective Christmas meals and then take them back to their homes;
Visit and/or share a meal at the home of a person who cannot or does not wish to go out on December 24th or 25th.
Additionally, individuals accompanied by the Antibes team will be invited on December 25th to a luncheon at the restaurant “Lou Castellet” in Carros (06510).
A holiday stay will take place from December 27th to January 3rd at Notre Dame du Gaou – 83230 Bormes-les-Mimosas.
Let’s remember that in 2009, more than 5,200 volunteers donated their time, and nearly 15,000 elderly people also enjoyed the warmth of Christmas.
For over 50 years, the Petits Frères des Pauvres have been supporting vulnerable elderly people by creating a fraternal relationship with them. For the end-of-year holidays, the association mobilizes to recreate a festive atmosphere for elderly people in great distress, by organizing Christmas Eves, stays, and home visits.
Thanks to their network, 260 teams in the field, and the generosity of the public, the Petits Frères des Pauvres work every day to accompany those who suffer from isolation and have limited resources, by creating a person-to-person relationship, within trust and affliction.
