The story is simple like all beautiful stories… from the white coat to the leather jacket! The association Twenty Thousand Lives was created to promote the distribution of defibrillators in France and to raise public awareness about emergency procedures… Twenty Thousand Lives could be saved every year in our country, that is the bold aim of this association.
Dr. Claude Mariottini, an interventional cardiologist and rhythmologist, is well-acquainted with this condition. His medical efforts focus on the prevention of heart diseases that can lead to sudden death, the treatment of severe rhythm disorders that are potentially dangerous, or treatments for severe arrhythmias following an episode of “recovered” sudden death. Action is needed, and that’s how the idea of using music as a means of information and funding was born.
The Low Budget Men (name inspired by the Kinks’ album “Low Budget”) are unique in playing for a good cause, saving lives by raising funds to purchase defibrillators through the 20,000 Lives association.
Guitarist-singer/cardiologist Claude Mariottini, who is passionate about music, performs with the collaboration of Stéphane Mirc, the bassist. They were recently joined by Marc Piola Caselli on guitar, Eric Chabaud on drums, and backing vocalist Doreen Chanter (Joe Cocker, Bryan Ferry…).
The Low Budget Men released a first album, “Crossing Lives.” The profits from the sale of this CD are donated for the purchase of defibrillators and the funding of public training programs in emergency procedures.
Since 2008, more than 6,000 spectators (Vallauris, Golfe Juan, Nice, La Gaude) have attended the concerts, and 65 defibrillators have already been donated to the department.
From words to action… Concert tonight, July 31, at Star’s n’ Bar in Monaco at 8 PM.
