The announcement by the Ministry of the Interior of the dates for the municipal elections in 2020 (March 15-22) has stirred the parties and candidates seeking nomination into action.
Following the candidacies of Philippe Vardon (RN), and while awaiting the official confirmation or not of the Estrosi/Ciotti duel in the department’s capital, one must not forget the other 164 municipalities in the department.
The Rรฉpublique en Marche movement is a newcomer, and its leadership is experiencing this for the first time. Faithful to the principle (at least in theory) of participatory democracy, they are calling โ as Enis Sliti, departmental referent, states โ “all those who wish to participate in a progressive project within a unifying dynamic to commit to their municipality and to make themselves known to the nomination committee.”*
The aforementioned committee has already been able to interview candidates for the municipalities of Vence, Le Cannet, Tourette Levens, and Cagnes-sur-Mer.
The committee is determined to play its role across the Alpes-Maritimes territory to contribute to locally renewing democratic practices, uncovering local talents, and affirming a transparent process of nomination,
emphasizes Enis Sliti.
“The role of youth in the renewal of French political life is paramount. Young people must engage in politics; they are the future of tomorrow and will shape future decisions in France and Europe,” adds Mathieu Cavarrot Soler, referent for JAM 06.
We await to see the outcome of these promising intentions.
