Republican fervor and emotion marked the tribute to the victims of terrorism during the “March of the Republic” held in Paris and other towns and villages across France. In total, it is estimated that nearly 4 million people participated in various marches and demonstrations, with more than one and a half million in the capital.
In the department, after the marches organized on Saturday in Nice on the Promenade des Anglais and Antibes, at the Place des Martyrs de la Rรฉsistance, a dense and united crowd gathered yesterday in Cannes and Menton to pay tribute to the 17 victims of the terrorist attacks committed this week.
In Menton, a significant Italian delegation of mayors and regional councilors participated in the demonstration as a sign of solidarity.
In other municipalities of the department, similar ceremonies were organized with the same symbols: “Je suis Charlie” posters and pencils symbolizing freedom of the press and freedom of expression.
A sacred union that has embraced the country for three days: A priest, an imam, a rabbi, and a Republic representative side by side, hand in hand.
