The New Line connecting Marseille-Toulon-Nice is officially launched. The coastal strip between the sea and the high Provenรงal and Azurian lands will be connected by this fast, safe, and ecological railway line.

After consultations, obtaining ministerial decisions, and the conclusion of the public inquiry with a favorable opinion, the South Region aimed to unite all local authorities from the departments to the Agglomeration Communities, including the Metropolises, in the “largest railway project in the South Region in 150 years.” In 2018, it was with Transport Minister ร‰lisabeth Borne, now Prime Minister, that the project was revived to finally come to fruition in less than four years.

At the end of this inaugural board meeting, the 2022 budget was approved. A president and a vice-president were unanimously elected: Renaud Muselier and Laure-Agnรจs Caradec. The Ligne Nouvelle company created today aims to secure budgetary resources with the following distribution: 40% from the Region and local authorities, 40% from the State, 20% from Europe.

The objective is to begin construction in 2024 with a planned completion in 2040. “This project is a major advancement in our environmental policy ‘COP dโ€™Avance’ by developing decarbonized and clean transportation,” declared Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte dโ€™Azur Region.
