For several months, an illegal encampment has been set up on the dyke of the port of Nice. Over these 4 months, it was necessary to manage sanitation, hygiene, security, and then legal issues concerning this municipal area.
After visiting the port of Nice accompanied by the Municipal Police, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, announced yesterday that law enforcement forces will be mobilized by the Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes within 48 hours to evict the illegal encampments. Indeed, the mayor of Nice obtained a decision from the Administrative Court on July 22 allowing him to appeal to the Prefect, who yesterday committed to evict them within 48 hours.
However, this action is just one example of a fight being waged at other sites in the city, such as the CADAM overpass, Boulevard Luciano, and the squats in Madeleine.
