The Mediterranean Youth Orchestra illustrates what the peaceful dialogue of music beyond borders should be.

It brings together students from conservatories in Mediterranean countries who practice symphonic music beyond their social, political, and religious beliefs.

This year, the ninety-two young musicians come from fifteen countries: Albania, Croatia, Egypt, Spain, France, Israel, Italy, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Portugal, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, as well as from America and Armenia.

Each summer, they reside at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, working with professional musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra before going on tour.

This year, they are under the direction of François-Xavier Roth, assistant conductor of the London Symphony, and director of the Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden.
