Performance on Thursday, August 25, starting at 3:00 PM at L’Entrepôt – 22, rue de Millo in Monaco.
It all begins during an exhibition at a “hype” venue in Brussels, an opening like so many others…
Clanetti: “I would like to exchange paintings with you…”
Piret: “What if we painted together?”
Piret had long experimented with this four-handed painting with Ghislain Olivier, his spiritual father who had passed away a few months earlier. He never imagined, or even dared to hope, to find this rare and scarcely practiced complicity between artists.
Nonetheless, a meeting was set at the studio on rue Américaine in Brussels (this too is no coincidence…).
And there, he discovered an unparalleled draftsman, a superhero of the pencil, a virtuoso of color: Andrea Clanetti. This led to a series of paintings where each confronted his past as a juxtaposition of controlled images… until the painting “Kill superman,” which brought them together on the idea of abandoning their superheroes for one and nostalgic ghosts for the other.
After long discussions at the pizza Roma, reparations of states of mind, and sometimes inadequate exhibition experiences, the complicity was established, strengthening them in the idea of new projects… No dependency, each continues their personal journey outside of their collaboration, but each reunion is a precious moment in their paths.
For Piret, the experience allowed him to reconcile not only with the four-handed painting, which was so dear to him, but also with the other half of his origin that he had unconsciously set aside for a long time and which, surprisingly, is the same as Clanetti’s… Venice… (so, perhaps there really are no coincidences…?)
That’s why today, for this performance in Monaco, he would be ready, like his amigo, to use the two names that shaped him… Piret-Zanchetta / Clanetti Santarossa…
