The Mercantour Park in the Lonely Planet’s top 10

Latest News

The Mercantour National Park is one of the 10* most beautiful natural areas in the world according to the Lonely Planet website, alongside the prestigious national parks of Banff (Canada), the Grand Canyon (United States), Iguaçu (Argentina), and the Galapagos (Ecuador).

The public institution of the Mercantour National Park thus sees the natural and authentic landscape quality of its territory recognized, alongside the work of protecting the integrity of the landscapes carried out by its agents over the past 35 years this year.

Beyond this recognition, the Mercantour National Park views this ranking as a confirmation of the legitimacy of its candidacy for the UNESCO World Heritage, alongside Italian partners, for the site known as “The Alps of the Sea.”

This candidacy is largely conditioned by the exceptional situation of the Mercantour massif near the Mediterranean Sea, where the landscapes find in this candidacy an explanation for their quality, rarity, and beauty.
