The commercial launch of the opening of the ski season at the resorts of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis was carried out by Christian Estrosi, accompanied by a caravan of mayors, deputies, and other various officials, within the context of a beautiful scenography on Place Masséna.
Mountain tourism is one of the key strengths of the economic policy of the City, the Metropolis, and the department.
In this regard, the behavior of the mayors over the last decade shows consistency: since 2003, €137 million has been invested in equipment at the Saint-Dalmas resorts and the more well-known Auron and Isola 2000.
This year, thanks to these investments enabling snow to be created, if necessary, within one week, the opening will no longer depend solely on the climate.
Indeed, Isola 2000 will open its slopes on the upcoming December 6th, while Auron will do so a few days later, on the 15th.
Thanks to an international communication campaign, there has been a significant increase in foreign clientele, +15% in 2013 compared to the previous year, while the azure resorts remain the preferred destination for the skiers from the department and neighboring areas.
