The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is preparing its third Environmental Noise Prevention Plan to take into account all 49 metropolitan municipalities in order to further combat noise and improve the quality of life and well-being of its inhabitants.
It must be said that, given the current situation, it’s greatly needed!
Thanks to the third Environmental Noise Prevention Plan, the Metropolis has several new projects such as creating low-speed traffic zones, installing sound-absorbing pavement, placing speed bumps, and conducting noise measurements before and after roadworks as part of urban monitoring.
For the record: Nine years ago, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis approved its first Environmental Noise Prevention Plan for 18 coastal and midland municipalities, the first urban noise prevention plan in France. With the second Plan, adopted in 2017, the daily life of nearly 50,000 citizens was improved. Unprecedented monitoring and controls in France and Europe were established, notably through the installation of nearly 45 sensors as part of the Environmental Urban Monitoring project, positioning the Metropolis as the first noise observatory in France. Innovation was put in the service of the sound environment, making the Metropolis more of a smart city than ever, and it was awarded the Silver Decibel in 2016 by the National Noise Council.
In 2019, unprecedented experiments continue with the installation of low-height barriers that reduce noise along the Boulevard de Cessole in Nice. A life-sized test unprecedented in France!
