This Thursday, the 15th, Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, meets with the 5th-grade students of the Nice Flore II school
The Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Cรดte d’Azur, will explain to the children why the 46 municipalities that make up France’s first metropolis decided to unite their future freely and independently.
This presentation is an opportunity to make the children aware of the historical importance of the Metropolis’ creation. Indeed, on January 1, 2012, a part of their personal and communal history was made.
During this exchange, the President of Nice Cรดte d’Azur will talk to them about the major projects planned for the metropolitan area and answer the students’ questions.
“To resolutely enter History, meet the challenges of the unfolding world, ensure a future here for our children, while strictly respecting the identity of each municipality and ensuring that all the various municipal councilors and citizens maintain their independence and autonomy in all choices pertaining to their municipality, that is the purpose of the Metropolis.
The Nice Cรดte d’Azur territory draws from its geography and history a particular and shared identity, between Nice, its hills, its valleys, and its mountains. Just look at a map. It is indeed the middle course of the Var, developed by the Tinรฉe and the Vรฉsubie, that creates the unity of our whole, and the ridges of the Mercantour that partly delimit it. The greatest wealth of a territory is the complementarity between its parts and their very diversity. With the metropolis, this is the wealth we aim for.”
