Every year, as summer approaches, the Metropole undertakes maintenance work on its beaches and ports.

From Nice to Villefranche, passing through Eze, Beaulieu, Cap-D’Ail, and Cagnes-sur-Mer, the metropolitan maritime infrastructures are developed to welcome locals and holidaymakers in the best possible conditions. Several coastlines along the French Riviera will undergo improvements to ensure cleanliness and optimal swimming conditions.

In Nice: several beach maintenance operations have been completed, including the installation of buoys and beach channels, enriching and leveling the 4 kilometers of Nice beaches with 7,500 tons of pebbles, restoring the paint of infrastructures: showers, beach entrance signs, handrails… The Nice sub-concessions have been leveled to prepare for the installment of upcoming decking. Moreover, the rehabilitation of a rocky breakwater at Fabron, the placement of lifeguard and observation posts along with temporary stairs have also been completed. A platform for people with reduced mobility has been constructed at the Port of Carras, where the shelter harbor has been evacuated and secured.

In Beaulieu-sur-Mer: the beaches have been enriched and leveled with the addition of 700 tons of rolled gravel. The “Petite Afrique” beach has had its facilities restructured, its beach breakwater refurbished, and its seagrass (underwater flowering plants) relocated to create a pathway along the rocky coastline to Villefranche-sur-Mer. The main platform of the port of Beaulieu has also been leveled. Network surveys have also been conducted at the port.

In Cagnes-sur-Mer: several beach maintenance operations have been completed, such as the general leveling of 3 kilometers of beach and the enrichment with 200 tons of pebbles at the sailing school. Regarding the Cros de Cagnes port, the entrance passage has been modified, and the rocky breakwater has been secured.

In Eze: the beaches have been enriched and leveled with an addition of 800 tons of gravel, and the seagrass and pebbles have been mixed to improve the beach’s durability. Additionally, the entire mooring system of the Silva Maris port has been renovated, and the Eze lighthouse has been repainted.

In Cap d’Ail: the Marquet beach has been enriched and leveled with an addition of 400 tons of gravel, with 200 tons distributed at the base of the wall to combat erosion, and the other half spread across the rest of the beach to maintain the beach profile. The entirety of the beach has been leveled.

In Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat: rehabilitation of the port mooring systems has been carried out, notably the chain linked to the port’s anchor, and the lighthouse paint has been restored.
