The Metropolis is launching a hydrogen bike experiment with ENGIE Solutions.

Latest News

Designed and assembled in France, this electric bicycle is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. A truly innovative solution completely detached from fossil fuels, it is at the forefront of technology and may represent the benchmark for tomorrow in terms of bicycle transportation.

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is testing the use of this hydrogen bicycle with its staff for their professional commutes. This full-scale test will be conducted over 6 weeks, with 10 units provided by ENGIE Solutions within the shared fleet of the City of Nice and the Metropolis. It will help determine if this mode of transportation is compatible with the needs of metropolitan staff, who will provide feedback on usage and functionality.

The experiment will enable ENGIE Solutions to deploy a mobility offer with alternative fuels tailored to the needs of cities and communities, and propose solutions based on usage in all areas of sustainable mobility (Natural Gas Vehicle, hydrogen, electric).

This initiative is in line with the Multiannual Energy Program in favor of diversifying the energy mix.
