The signing* of the Metropolitan Contract between the various concerned parties is part of a comprehensive and coordinated approach throughout the entire water cycle: from the mountains to the sea.
The Metropolitan Contract is a tool for programming and monitoring, allowing for the local implementation of the recommendations from the European directives: Water Framework Directive, Urban Wastewater Directive, Bathing Water Quality Directive, Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
For Christian Estrosi: โA partnership with the Water Agency strengthening our means of action on the grand water cycle. Emblematic objectives that are part of strong European initiatives concerning the good status of aquatic environments.โ
This five-year action program required over a year of preparation (July 2013-July 2014), several meetings gathering the services of water, sanitation, environment, and ports, and will have a total cost of 146 million euros with financial support from the Water Agency of 51 million euros.
The actions of the Metropolitan Contract also meet the measures defined in the Water Development and Management Master Plan (SDAGE 2016-2021).
