On Monday, December 17th, Christian Estrosi presented the new Metropolitan Local Urban Plan surrounded by mayors from different municipalities. It will be submitted to a vote during the next metropolitan council meeting, which will take place on Friday.
The 2019 Metropolitan Local Urban Plan was developed in consultation with the 49 municipalities of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. All the mayors were invited to participate in the 64 meetings for the development of this plan. In total, 120 public consultation meetings were organized.
Three main areas of focus have been announced to respond to the new legislative context and propose measures for a balanced territory.
1: Establishing a dynamic metropolis that creates jobs. This includes attracting investments and promoting research, innovation, and the tourist sector.
2: The quality and protection of the environment.
3: A solidary and equitable metropolis. This involves a balanced production of new housing and improved public transportation to connect the coast with the midland and highland areas.
With these provisions, the metropolis demonstrates its commitment to creating 50,000 new jobs and dedicating 450 hectares to investments. Additionally, 45 urban development openings are planned along with 500 hectares of additional protected areas and nearly 1,080 hectares of additional agricultural zones, representing an increase of more than 22%.
This Metropolitan Local Urban Plan includes an Urban Travel Plan to ensure the coherence of territorial development and transportation, aiming to maintain balance within the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis territories, with an investment exceeding 1 billion euros.
