At the headquarters of Nice Côte d’Azur, the first four Mia vehicles were received on Monday by the president of the institution and deputy mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, accompanied by the president of the new automobile manufacturing company Mia Electric, Edwin Kohl.

During the press conference, the former Minister of Industry was the first to speak. “I’ve set the goal of making Nice one of the great green cities of the Mediterranean. We are the first to offer this service. Mia is today the resurrection of a French industrial program. At the most desperate time, a real Franco-German takeover group emerged [editor’s note: Baelen-De Gaillard Industries and Con-Energy, supported by Pharma-Kohl].”

Faced with the difficulties of the late Heuliez company, Christian Estrosi had signed a green loan of 8 million euros. The state committed 10 million, plus 5 million granted by the Poitou-Charentes region.

The Mia, an authentic car

President of the Franco-German company, Edwin Kohl spoke after the deputy from the Alpes-Maritimes: “Nice is the first customer of Mia Electric. The Mia is a true electric vehicle. It is not an electrified production car. Over 100 kilometers, it consumes 1 kWh, which costs only one euro for the same distance (sic).”

Today, nearly a hundred models are about to come off the production lines. But Edwin Kohl aims higher: “By the end of the year, we want to produce 1,000 cars per month.” And while the Franco-German company has 260 employees, its workforce is expected to increase by about 40%.

Alongside the press conference, the head of Mia and Christian Estrosi went to test the electric cars. Just to check if everything is really well that ends well before the delivery of seven more vehicles by the end of September.
