From May 1st to October 31st, Milan will host the World Expo. Named “Expo Milano,” 144 countries participated in this exceptional event.
14 billion euros of investment (12 in infrastructure and 2 in organizing and operating costs): that’s what this extraordinary event cost.
“The theme of Expo Milano is ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.’ It is an opportunity to open a dialogue and cooperation between all countries,” explains Valeria Albertin, the event’s organizer.
A theme aimed at addressing the challenges of this millennium.
This is why the venue was built like a true avenue of the world. “The exhibition space covers 1 million square meters,” continues Valeria Albertin. “53 countries have built their pavilions where visitors can combine knowledge, tastes, and entertainment,” the young woman points out.
But that’s not all. Countries that could not create their own pavilions have access to clusters. “The concept is simple, 9 cluster pavilions have been provided to countries based on food themes. Rice, cereals, or Mediterranean products, all have been able to participate in the creation of these areas.”
The benefit of proximity
Every 5 years, a city hosts the famous World Expo. Many products and technologies made their debut at this event: the elevator in 1853, the telephone in 1876, and the Eiffel Tower in 1889.
This time, it’s the famous Italian city of Milan hosting this must-see event. To mark the occasion, the organizers have gone all out. “In addition to the countries’ pavilions and the Clusters, 5 thematic areas are available to explore. This way, parents can leave their little ones in the children’s park designed for this purpose.
But that’s not all. The Future Food District is the supermarket of the future available to all visitors.
Finally, it will be an opportunity for visitors to discover the famous Cirque du Soleil, which will be performing an exclusive show from May 6 to August 23 at the expo,” rejoices Valeria Albertin.
But Milan means tourism. Expo Milano has made numerous agreements with the city hall. “We have agreements with the Opera and the Chamber of Commerce. The goal is for visitors to have the opportunity to discover Milan alongside the expo.”
A major event not to be missed, which—luckily—is not far from Nice. Take advantage of it, as it truly is an expo you must see at least once in your life.
