The MoDem will be a cross-party organization in search of “majorities of demands.”

The Charter that defines the values and framework within which they must be inscribed is here. The desire to maintain an “open autonomy” in terms of participation in electoral lists is expressed. The ambition to count more is clarified by an objective (yes, indeed, in politics the number of elected officials is important!): increase to 20/25 departmental elected officials from the current 15.

mouvement_democrate_nice.jpg The strategy is clear, the tactics as well, the organization is set up, only the action is missing to make voters understand the right choice!

The UDI-MODEM rapprochement? For Fabien Bénard, president of MoDem 06:

“The conditions seem to be in place for the reformation of an independent Center. Locally, contacts are multiplying, and we are delighted. We need to offer something other than the two-party or three-party system being offered to us. It’s this moderate and humanist family that will restore hope. MoDem will hold its congress at the beginning of December. And we wish a happy birthday to the UDI, which turns one this weekend!

The first meeting after our union will be the European elections. UDI/MoDem, our political family, will be the only dynamic force carrying a message of hope for Europe. And we already have our candidate for the MoDem 06 candidacy in the large Southeast constituency!”

The MoDem of the Alpes-Maritimes has just presented the Charter for “Demanding Majorities” for the upcoming municipal elections.

“We have discussed our planned citizen/candidate formation actions for our communities in these times of bidding towards the most extreme positions and the local developments of the rapprochement between François Bayrou’s MoDem and Jean-Louis Borloo’s UDI,” said Fabien Bénard, the departmental president.

“Our approach is simple, based on the observation of an ultra-dominant UMP in 06, but divided and fragmented. A PS, inaudible opposition, without renewal for so long!

A delicate position for the MoDem, not favored by the majoritarian voting system, but still here, united, with its actors in civil society who are not professional politicians,” he concluded.

An instrument: the “Demanding Majorities Charter” for our communities

8 simple commitments determine the conditions around which the MoDem wants to participate in building new majorities

The humanist values of living together and ensuring respect for every person or group of people, the candidate commits to refusing and combating all discriminatory statements.

The democratic virtues of counter-powers, the candidate commits to respecting and ensuring the opposition’s right of expression and representation in municipal or community councils.

The debate of ideas requires tolerance and responsibility, the candidate commits to accompany all criticisms with supported and quantified counter-proposals.

The trust bond between the French and their elected officials, the candidate commits to presenting, explaining, and debating local or community projects with full transparency.

The economic context imposes it, the candidate commits to weigh in municipal or community councils for budgetary control and reduction of public debt.

Education of the youngest is a future issue, the candidate commits to achieving a viable project for school rhythm adjustments through consultation with all concerned parties.

Social diversity is a response to the excesses of communitarianism and the feeling of insecurity, the candidate commits to encouraging and supporting projects that promote the sharing of public space and local housing.

The choice of means exists between public management and private partnership, the candidate commits to favoring sustainable solutions that allow effective control by the communities.

“It is by signing this charter that our candidates and those seeking MoDem’s support commit,” adds Fabien Bénard.

And here are some anticipations regarding the electoral situation in the most important cities of the department:

From a general viewpoint, teams are working to ensure the charter “Demanding Majorities” by candidates who have understood the interest in opening up, making their lists and teams more citizen-focused.

Nice

The offer does not satisfy us, there are diagnoses to be made. We want to bring ideas and projects. The choice offered to the people of Nice is not satisfactory. There is space for a different offer. Centrists, various right-wingers, social democrats, radicals, ecologists, and independent ecologists.

Cannes

“Ethics more than label!” David Lisnard was elected General Councilor without the UMP label and with the support of MoDem and UDI. Demanding majority with a demanding elected official for the environment and to push through beneficial developments for all. Lisnard gathers talents, and we offer him more, in addition to Pascale Vaillant!

Antibes

We simply hope, for the people of Antibes, that in the face of the FN risk, the Mayor will remember he has always been a centrist elected official and will wish to remain so.

Beausoleil

Gérard Spinelli’s team is a cross-party, open team, already a Demanding Majority!

Cagnes

The team is being built, we are working on ideas and projects, revisiting part of the MoDem 2008 team and elected officials who are very pleased with the work done by Philippe Touzeau-Menoni, MoDem Cagnes leader who can form a list.

Then, in Menton we will be present, in St Laurent du Var we will propose projects, in Vence we are saddened to see two candidates from our family who could win the Mairie neutralize each other, and we regret that Loïc Dombreval was not tested by the SA poll in a second-round hypothesis.

In Villefranche we will probably be present, in Vallauris where our approach is receiving a lot of feedback, Theoule where we will bring our full support to a UDI MoDem team with Georges Botella.
