The mojito is the favorite cocktail of the French, ahead of the kir royal and the classic kir.
Next come the piña colada, the ti-punch, the margarita, and the gin and tonic… This is revealed by the survey conducted by CGA-Nielsen (1). In terms of flavors, preferences are clear: bitter for men over the age of 35, sweet and fruity for the younger crowd (Ah! the Sex on the Beach and Cosmopolitans…). As for women, as stated, they opt for fruity and sparkling drinks.

Nighttime is not the exclusive domain for cocktail consumption, oh no!
While the vast majority are consumed between 9 PM and midnight and especially between 7 PM and 9 PM – the famous happy hours – lunchtime and the 5 PM – 7 PM time slot claim their (small) share.
Could cocktails become an alternative to classic aperitifs? Perhaps. But I challenge you to have a good appetite after a hearty piña colada to start your meal… I tried! I regretted it!
