“The Mont Amour” by Lorenzo

Latest News

Lorenzo arrived in Nice at the age of 7. His childhood was lulled by melodies. To find out more about his musical life, I invite you to surf his website www.lorenzolesite.com.
In the meantime, I invite you to venture onto Mont Amour, a 100% Nice self-production.

jpg_lorenzo1.jpg Nice-Premium: Hello, a colleague recommended a journey to Mont Amour. Since you are the creator, could I have more information on this summit?
Lorenzo: Mont Amour is 10 times around the sun or 10 years of my life, filled with dreams and artistic demands.
It is also the last song of the album, which I hope is a place of emotion.

Nice-Premium: Is it an autobiographical Mont?
Lorenzo: What is wonderful after this adventure is being able to tell you that I am everywhere and nowhere.
Through the song, I can be a personal pronoun like “I” or “he”. I can be a plural or an instrument in the midst of an orchestra, only noticed after several listens. I manipulate, I transform, I harmonize grammar, feelings, and music.
The “I” is worth it.

Nice-Premium: What is its specialty?
Lorenzo: Complexity, under a simple guise, it’s a place of details.

Nice-Premium: At what musical “altitude” is it?
Lorenzo: I think the general style of the record is more progressive rock with significant bridges to the history of French chanson.
After all, it’s like the greatest volcanoes—they can only be the tallest because they are deeper. The sea told me so.

Nice-Premium: Was the “path” to release it in the stores difficult?
Lorenzo: If I became an author, composer, performer, and producer, it’s because I was told “no” a lot. That’s my story.
I’m not someone who measures; I love the verb “to do”.
The difficulties, I would even say that I love them because their presence gives value to this adventure.

Nice-Premium: How did its first steps come to be?
Lorenzo: I discovered music at 18 by singing in a band called “The Buzz”. I played with the guitarist Eric Giordana, who had compositions that I found brilliant. After 3 years, the band broke up, but I decided to continue with his songs. I believed I was a singer; the rest is 7 years of quiet work, patiently learning to compose and write. And today, these tunes are still here, and so is he.

Nice-Premium: A Letter to the President? What triggered this text?
Lorenzo: This song dates back to the second Iraq war; at the time, I was revolting against President George W. Bush, who managed to overturn the lives of millions of humans with lies. It’s also a nod to Boris Vian and his deserter.

Nice-Premium: Looking at maps and atlases, I can’t locate Mont Amour. Can you tell me where it is?
Lorenzo: Maybe look at it differently, the song says “wanting, understanding, learning to read”.
Look at your map, look at your atlas.

jpg_lorenzo2.jpgNice-Premium: What can be seen from this Mont Amour?
Lorenzo: You can see the path.

Nice-Premium: Having designed and visited it, is there a message that takes flight from this summit?
Lorenzo: Touched. It’s true that up there something can finally soar, but it isn’t a message. I’m not a moralist.
I just want to transform reality.

Nice-Premium: Any advice on how to reach it? For instance, should one dress warmly to get there?
Lorenzo: I think that being covered isn’t a guarantee of success in this adventure. Where one feels best is perhaps still in the nude.

The record is on sale in the Fnacs of Monaco, Nice, Cannes, and Toulon, and available for download on iTunes, Amazon…
