The program was presented to us by the Princess of Hanover. By unveiling a glimpse, she gives us the essence of this lyrical season of the Principality.
The year 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, and on this occasion, Charles Dutoit will make his first appearance at the conductor’s stand of the orchestra. The program is mainly a tribute to German composers: Mendelssohn, Schumann, Bruckner.
Russia is not forgotten, with Alexandre Kantorow as the resident artist for this lyrical season. Known as the young tsar of the piano, he will perform in three exceptional concerts. Kazuki Yamada’s artistic direction has given this lyrical season its theme: “At the Heart of Music.” If we take his words literally, that says it all. It leads us into the symbolism of words: culture, cultivating one’s garden, here, obviously, the garden of music. To cultivate also means to love in the sense of appreciating.
This program will allow us to rediscover with pleasure artists we have listened to by chance in concerts. Is it a step backward? Certainly not! But it is the satisfaction of the senses, of hearing, and of the soul.
The season, which began on September 20 at the Grimaldi Forum, will continue until June for the greatest pleasure of music lovers. In July and August 2021, the court of honor at the prince’s palace will bring the curtain down on this season full of promises for lyrical art.
